This opportunity will encompass a wide variety of tasks including establishing adequate reserves for both indemnity and expense and review reserves on a regular basis to ensure adequacy, providing instructions to external lawyers and adjusters with respect to coverage, investigation and ultimate settlement, actively pursues all avenues of recovery including and participating directly in mediation and arbitration and in settlement discussions.
You will also provide information to management on the existence or development of critical losses, participate in claims audits, provide underwriters with assistance in marketing and drafting of policy documents and implementing, maintaining and monitoring departmental standards and procedures.
To be successful in this role you must possess:
- A minimum of five years experience with PI, FI and/or D&O claims
- Knowledge of claims handling concepts, practices, procedures and techniques
- Knowledge of law and insurance regulations
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong negotiation, analytical and decision making skills
A legal qualification would be advantageous, but not essential.
